Service Description
Discover the sheer joy of creating silver jewellery! This is a course designed for absolute beginners. Starting with a single strip of sterling silver wire, your first decision is which size wire you want to use. You will learn how to measure for a ring and then add texture. Mind your fingers as you hammer the metal strip to display the texture you want. Shape the strip into a round shape and file edges before turning to the soldering bench. Here we use the flame and I admit to being fascinated by fire and the process of soldering. With the two ends joined together, you will file and shape the piece further before turning to the polishing process. As the polishing is being done, we will sit back, have a laugh and natter over a cup of tea (or coffee) and enjoy a piece of cake. My tiny studio is perfect for one or two participants, so if you want a wonderful experience with a close friend, or if you simply want to experience the absolute joy of creating something truly special, then get in touch and join me for a few hours in my studio. Course duration: up to 3 hours Course availability: Only on certain weekends (Saturday or Sunday) or evenings NO COURSES RUN DURING THE WORKING WEEK (sorry!) Please make sure you read the course instructions carefully before booking for this course.
Course policy
All participants MUST be over 18 years old. Please wear sensible clothing for this course. You will be provided with an apron, but clothing may be damaged during the process of making your jewellery. Please bring glasses if you need them for close work. All participants must ensure they wear closed shoes for the course. Anyone wearing flip flops of similar open shoes will not be able to participate in the course. If you have any dietary requirements (oat milk etc) please let us know so we can make sure you have a warm beverage that you are able to enjoy. We have dogs at the studio. And the studio is in our home. Although the dogs are kept out of the studio area while we are making the jewellery, it is highly likely you will meet our furry children. If this idea horrifies you, please let us know and we will do our best to allay any fears or worries you may have. However if you are allergic to dogs, then we will need to have a discussion before you book onto a course. Courses are ONLY available some weekends and in the evenings. Please do not book a course unless we have had a discussion about availability. NO more than TWO (2) participants per course, with an additional observer. Our studio area is quite small and we want you to get the most of your time on this course, so we simply cannot accommodate more participants. Cancellations may be made up to 48hours before the start of a course and a full refund will be made to you. Any cancellations made after this time will not be refunded and 100% of the course fee will be retained by Savannah Silver Jewellery.
