Service Description
Discover the sheer joy of working with sterling silver! From a sheet of sterling silver (recycled of course), you will learn how to texture your metal using hammers, a roller or whatever you can think of. When content with the texture, we will pierce (saw) out the shape you want for your design. Filing the edges, and shaping the pieces you will see your designs starting to come alive. You will then decide whether you wish to have the earrings hanging from hooks, or if you want to have a pair of studs. If we have time, we will make the hooks from 0.8mm round wire, shaping the metal into the hook and finishing sharp edges. If you prefer studs, you will use the burner to solder the tiny posts in place. Make sure you have a steady hand for this ... or learn how to 'cheat' using the 'third hand' like I do!! Finally your earrings will be cleaned off in the pickle, and we will polish them up. While the polishing happens, we will sit back, enjoy a cup of tea (or coffee, juice , water) and if you're lucky, maybe even a slice of cake will be on offer. While we chat away, the earrings will be polishing and after a short while we will reveal your new shiny earrings. You can either wear these as you leave or have them mounted on earring cards and take them with you. Either way, you will leave with a beautiful pair of earrings, made by YOU, and take with you lovely memories spent in my tiny, warm and welcoming workshop. Course Duration : 2.5 Hours Course Availability: Only available on certain weekend days (Saturday or Sunday) or evenings. Please read the Course Instructions carefully
Course policy
All participants MUST be over 18 years old. Please wear sensible clothing for this course. You will be provided with an apron, but clothing may be damaged during the process of making your jewellery. Please bring glasses if you need them for close work. All participants must ensure they wear closed shoes for the course. Anyone wearing flip flops of similar open shoes will not be able to participate in the course. If you have any dietary requirements (oat milk etc) please let us know so we can make sure you have a warm beverage that you are able to enjoy. We have dogs at the studio. And the studio is in our home. Although the dogs are kept out of the studio area while we are making the jewellery, it is highly likely you will meet our furry children. If this idea horrifies you, please let us know and we will do our best to allay any fears or worries you may have. However if you are allergic to dogs, then we will need to have a discussion before you book onto a course. Courses are ONLY available some weekends and in the evenings. Please do not book a course unless we have had a discussion about availability. NO more than TWO (2) participants per course, with an additional observer. Our studio area is quite small and we want you to get the most of your time on this course, so we simply cannot accommodate more participants. Cancellations may be made up to 48hours before the start of a course and a full refund will be made to you. Any cancellations made after this time will not be refunded and 100% of the course fee will be retained by Savannah Silver Jewellery.
